Welcome to Sacred Heart Reception Admissions 2027
A Beacon of Excellence, Faith, and Inclusion
Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School in Bewsey/Whitecross Warrington, stands as a shining example of academic excellence, personal development, and inclusive education. Known affectionately as the Sacred Heart Family, the school offers a warm, happy, and stimulating environment where every child is genuinely at the heart of everything we do. While proud of its Catholic identity, Sacred Heart is an inclusive school that warmly welcomes families from all backgrounds and beliefs. We celebrate diversity and work hard to ensure that every child and family feels respected, supported, and a valued part of our Sacred Heart community. We foster close partnerships with parents, carers, staff, governors, parish, and the wider community, creating a nurturing atmosphere where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to reach their full potential.
A message from our Head Teacher, Mrs Harding...
Choosing a primary school for your child is a very special decision. We know that it is one that you will think carefully about, and we understand that you want to find a school where your child will be happy, safe, loved, supported and inspired to learn.
At Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, we believe that we are much more than a school, we are a family. From the moment children walk through our doors, we want them to know that they belong. We pride ourselves on knowing our children as individuals, celebrating their uniqueness and helping them to develop not only academically, but also socially, emotionally and spiritually. Our aim is for every child to leave us believing in themselves, knowing that they are valued and feeling proud of who they are.
We are incredibly proud to be an Outstanding school, as judged by Ofsted, and of the high standards and expectations that we have for every child. However, while outcomes and inspection grades are important, we believe that what really matters is what happens every day in our school, the relationships we build, the opportunities we provide, the care we show and the memories our children make. We want their first experiences of school to be filled with wonder, curiosity, laughter, friendship and a love of learning.
We know that choosing a school cannot be done simply by reading a website or looking at an inspection report.
We would love to welcome you and your child to one of our Reception 2027 Open Days, where you will have the opportunity to meet members of our team, look around our school and ask any questions you may have. Come and see our children learning and feel the warmth of our school and see what makes Sacred Heart special.
We look forward to meeting you and your child and, hopefully, welcoming you into our Sacred Heart family.
A message from our Reception Teacher, Mrs Taylor...
I am incredibly passionate about Early Years and about making sure that every child has the very best possible start to school. Reception is such a special year, and I truly believe that the experiences children have at this stage help to shape the learners they go on to become.
For me, getting those early foundations right is so important. Of course, we want children to learn, make progress and be ready for the next stage of their journey, but Reception is about so much more than that. It is about helping children to grow in confidence, become more independent, develop their language, make friends, ask questions, explore the world around them and, most importantly, enjoy coming to school.
We know that starting school is a huge step, not just for children but for their families too. We want every child who walks through our door to feel safe, happy, loved and completely part of our school family. Building those strong relationships comes first for us, because children learn best when they feel secure, settled and know that the adults around them really care about them.
Every child is different and every child comes to us with their own personality, experiences, interests and needs. We take the time to get to know them properly, to celebrate the little things as well as the big things, to notice when they need encouragement and to be there for them when they need a cuddle, a kind word or a little extra reassurance.
Our Reception classroom is a place where children are encouraged to be curious, have a go, make mistakes, laugh, explore, talk, play and learn together. We want children to feel confident to be themselves and to know that they are valued for exactly who they are.
I feel incredibly lucky to be part of this very first chapter of their school journey. It is such a privilege to watch children grow in confidence, find their feet, build friendships and discover just how much they are capable of.
Above everything, I want our children to look back on Reception and remember feeling happy, cared for and excited to learn. Those strong foundations, both in learning and in how children feel about themselves, are what they will carry with them as they continue through school.

Our EYFS Curriculum
At Sacred Heart, we are proud to follow a Stronger Foundations approach, recognising that getting the foundations for learning right is imperative to every child’s future learning journey. Our Reception curriculum is carefully planned, ambitious and purposeful. We do not leave learning to chance; every experience, interaction and area of provision is designed to build the knowledge, skills, language and confidence children need to thrive both in Reception and beyond.
We believe that young children learn best when they feel happy, safe, valued and nurtured. Through warm relationships, high-quality interactions, carefully planned continuous provision and purposeful adult-led learning, we create an environment where children are encouraged to explore, question, communicate, persevere and develop a genuine love of learning.
Mrs Taylor is passionate about Early Years education and ensuring that our curriculum provides children with the strongest possible start. Our approach places a particular emphasis on communication and language, vocabulary, independence, curiosity and secure foundational knowledge, ensuring that children are not only ready for Year 1, but equipped with the skills and confidence to become successful lifelong learners.
At Sacred Heart, Reception is not simply preparation for what comes next. It is a vital stage of education in its own right, where strong foundations are built, relationships are nurtured and every child is supported to flourish.
